Chris Rich Recognized For Her Contributions to Bellevue
August 15, 2019
As has been customary for the last five years, the Bellevue Merchants Association (BMA) during National Night Out festivities on MacArthur Avenue held on August 6 recognized someone who has been very supportive of the Bellevue community. This year that distinction went to Chris Rich, who with her twin sister Cecilia, owns Rich’s Stitches, which has been operating on MacArthur Avenue for 27 years (though they are celebrating their 30th year in business). Chris, a past president of the BMA, has always been a team player for the neighborhood’s two largest events—Christmas on MacArthur and National Night Out. She has been steadfast organizer and supporter of both events, and has handled much of the nerve-racking logistics required for Christmas on MacArthur. Chris has also always been an active member of the business association, attending every meeting. Current BMA President Joe Stankus presented Chris with a plaque which can be placed in any of the tree wells along Bellevue’s two commercial strips.
In past years the BMA has awarded plaques to Mike LaBelle, owner of Restoration Carpentry and a former BMA officer; Cookie Gianini, former owner of Dot’s Back Inn and long-time North Side resident; Chris Hilbert, Third District councilman; Lisa Townes, liaison for Third District councilman; Chris Egghart, cultural resources specialist at Virginia Department of Environmental Quality; Bob Kocher, owner of Once Upon A Vine; and Charles McGuigan, editor/publisher of North of the James magazine.
